The three components of a Digital Strategy:
1. Digital Literacy
2. Digital Technology Infrastructure
3. Digital Leadership
These components will be discussed more in-depth on the following pages.
Implementation
In implementing a Digital Strategy at The Ellerslie School, I will focus on the above components. A needs analysis for the institution will be conducted, looking at the budget for resources to help achieve the intended goals of providing devices, school wide connectivity and infrastructural improvement. There will also be consultation with the stakeholders (teachers) to determine how they will use the technology to enhance teaching.
Another consideration will be engaging the parents, as this involvement should have a positive impact on the school culture and student progress. Ensuring student safety will also be a major part of my strategy, as it is the school's responsibility to provide a safe online environment for students using the devices. The digital strategy will also incorporate the various types of learners and those with special needs.
Introduction of PLC's into the school community will also play a vital role as we seek to be collaborative and include the ideas and suggestions of all involved, whether administrators, teaching and ancillary staff, students and parents.
This endeavor will be costly, and any proposal will have to be discussed with the School's Board to ensure support will be forthcoming and that it is the best investment for the school.
