A technology plan focuses on an institutions technology status, needs assessment, organizational goals in the use of technology for a period of time and can be revised to accommodate changes of the technological environment. While a digital strategy will focus on using the available technology to achieve an organization's goals. The focal points are teaching and learning along with assessment procedures.
The Ellerslie School would benefit more from a comprehensive digital strategy for the integration of technology since there is an existing system which will ensure continued growth and development of the school's infrastructure, the digital awareness of the students and having essential leadership guiding the process.
My educational institution has continued to encourage staff and students to fully engage in the digital tools available and this proved beneficial during the Covid-19 pandemic. As an institution we were able to transition easily, as additional training was provided to the staff in very early stages, and they were therefore able to transfer that knowledge to the students and parents to ensure comfort in the online environment for all concerned.

The best way to integrate technology at my institution is simply getting teacher 'buy in'. The best infrastructure, adequate internet functioning or access to digital tools are all for nought if teachers do not buy in to the concept that integrating technology into the teaching, learning and assessment process is beneficial to all stakeholders.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this comment. The term "buy in" for me signifies a sense of ownership, of being a part of a process where my input was valued and a decision made after a collaborative effort. I can now plan and execute with specific goals in mind.
DeleteTeachers' support of any integration of technology is paramount, since as the practitioners they are in the best position to decide on the requisite tools to use and how best to integrate them.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that the support of teachers in the integration of technology is paramount. An interesting quote I came across while doing my blog sums it up perfectly 'technology will not replace great teachers but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational'.
